Day 26: Partial Knotties {30 Days, 30 Ways}

Day Twenty-Six: Partial Knotties
Skill To Learn: Coiled Knots Anchored With Hidden Crossed Bobbies
Difficulty: Moderate
Time Commitment: 20 Minutes
What You Need: Gel, Comb, 1 Fat Elastic, A Bunch of Bobbies

 For Day Twenty-Six of 30 Days, 30 Ways, let’s use the skills you learned on Day Fifteen: Knotties and make it a partial upstyle.  This is a lovely way to wear your hair that will easily transition from the workplace to your evening plans!

Begin with your hair dried with the final style that you want (curly, wavy, straight).  Next, lightly wet and gel your fingers and pull up the top section of your hair with an elastic (fat or clear, depending on how thick your hair is).  Separate the anchored hair into three or more sections and twist each one until it coils towards the head.  (If you divide into more sections, your coils will be smaller like Larken’s, above; if you use less sections, your coils will be chunkier like Emilie’s, below)  Use crossed bobbies to anchor each coil against your scalp, grabbing hair from the twists and hair at the root and locking the ridges of the two bobbies underneath the knots.  (If, when you release the coil, it begins to move, add a third bobby wherever the hair seems loose.)  I always leave a tail sticking out of my knotties because I think it adds whimsy to the overall style, but you can completely tuck those loose ends if you want.  Lastly, lightly gel any loose sprigs to keep them looking intentional and finish with a mist of hairspray.

Have a great day and remember that someone needs a ray of light today that only you can shine.
Make time for inspiration, be yourself without apology and always light your world with goodness!

  1. I wore this today and got two complements right off the bat. Did three twisted knotts and only used three bobbies.
